The Monasteries in the
The Neamt County is known for its large number of monasteries built in the 15th century. Among them, the Neamţ Monastery, located in the commune of Vânători-Neamţ, is the oldest monastic settlement in the Moldavian region. On the other hand, the beauty of the church services and the painted frescoes attract lots of visitors to the Agapia Monastery, one of the largest in Romania, and the perfect place for those who want to rediscover tranquillity. One should also include the monasteries of Văratec, Sihla, Secu, and Sihastria. Recently restored, the stronghold tells about the hundreds of years’ history and reveals, with every step, the charm of a world marked by significant events. Tourists can admire the fortress’ halls, the kitchen, the bedrooms, the mint or the dungeons. In addition, they have a panoramic view of the small city.
